Three words: silence, stillness, majesty.
I often find myself laying still on my bed, envisioning myself in the slow turning, majestic little universe that Nagsasa Cove was. How the hours and minutes and seconds didn’t feel as if they were chasing after me when we arrived at nine in the morning, how vast yet unintimidating the place felt to me. Minimal electricity, void of cellular signal. The problem I find with today’s society is that many of us are connected, but remain disconnected from one another. But that’s another story. In line with connectivity, I’ve found that being one with nature strengthens my inner peace and the contentment I have with actually being a part of this magnificently obscure universe.
Wading in the clear, still and shallow waters while feasting my eyes on the colorful textures of the mountains, I found my brain in the most exquisite kind of lull. Appreciating what’s already been there for us from the very beginning—the sky, the mountains, the ocean, the stars—is a cure that many of us have yet to discover. May it be a cure for an inner void, a lack of inspiration, or a disgusting comma of boredom, it only exists if you reach out for it and if you let it manifest. If only people would take the time (in this case, a decent four hour bus ride from claustrophobia-inducing Metro Manila and a mildly rough thirty minute boat ride), I truly believe that people would be much happier.
This is the beauty of this country, the numerous (and often not widely discovered) destinations of paradise. Although as I returned home and uploaded photos of the place, I was told numerous times how beautiful the sceneries looked, specifically, how astonishing it is that these photos were actually taken in the Philippines. Isn't that a pity? See, imagine all these Filipinos aspiring to visit international destinations to discover what a beauty the world truly is, and yet, not prioritizing local travel enough. This, for a reason I cannot even fathom.
A collective shift in mindset should be in the works—
