Danna Peña is a writer by vice and student of the Earth.
👩💻 Danna Peña is completing an MSc in Sustainability Management degree at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) - Barcelona School of Management. With a rich background in global creative roles, she is dedicated to harnessing her leadership, knowledge of sustainability, and communication skills to drive positive societal change.
🌏 In her several years of work experience as a digital content creative, she has contributed to the growth, storytelling, and community building of companies based in the Philippines, USA, UK, and Australia. She specializes in feature writing, copywriting, social media management, digital creative consultancy, and community management. While she gets a kick from executing stories in an engaging and meaningful way, she also enjoys creating internal processes to ensure seamless workflows for her and her teams.
💻 She has worked as a Senior Writer, Social Media Manager, and Content Strategist for various global brands, and has experience handling online communities of over 30 million followers. Her social media clientele includes The Pink Stuff USA, Beautiful Destinations, Beautiful Hotels, Beautiful Matters, Beautiful Cuisines, and the Institute of Climate and Sustainable Cities. She has also served as a Content Producer in Rappler where she produced articles and videos and as a Senior Staff Writer for sister e-commerce brands Deal Grocer, BeautyMnl, and ShopLite.
✍🏼 While she has extensive experience in social media where snappy, short-form content is king, she remains a staunch lover of long-form written works. Her writing has been featured in various publications like Manila Bulletin, Rappler Move PH, Young STAR by The Philippine Star, Rappler BrandRap, CNN Philippines Life, Touchpoint by Manila FAME, and PURVEYR, among others.
🌱 She feels strongly about mindful living and sustainability, particularly the necessity of instilling care towards the self and the environment. In 2020, she was selected to be a Southeast Asian Journalism Fellow for Climate Tracker where she covered climate-related stories in the Philippines. In 2021, she finished a virtual global training of The Climate Reality Leadership Corps and became a certified Climate Reality Leader.
🌞 When she’s not on the grind, you’ll find her cooking plant-based recipes, feeding stray cats, hitting the nearest beach, taking film photos, scouring thrift stores, and relishing in slow, leisurely days.
